My Tangle
Here, Mariko examines the perceived fragmentation of her mind and sense of personality as she has changed over time. A self-portrait, the work progresses from childhood to adolescence to adulthood, while also exploring the fading of memories as they age. Recent events are fresh and full of colour, like green leaves. But over time, the memories become dull and wither away until they seem like stories of another person. Still, the past is what makes her who she is today.
