This blackboard billboard by Anna Nangle is an ekphrastic response to Bas Jan Ader’s 'In Search of the Miraculous', a conceptual work made in 1975, in which he attempted to sail across the Atlantic in a 12 foot boat, disappearing en route. This spacious and elegiac work exemplifies the expanded field of drawing, using line, mark making, neon and video to record emotion and existential experience.
