In this work, Alison Duff honours a magnificent tree that had been self healing by exuding resin (kino). On lopping day, Duff managed to salvage shards of kino, leaves, branches and sawdust and now references the tree’s attempt at self healing by way of the Egyptian process of mummification. The deep cracks left in the driveway, captured by a PVA peel, evidence the tree’s past existence and underpin the sculpture.
