In this work, Lisa-jane Van Dyk has collected receipts to develop an archive that reflects a student lifestyle in both location and recreation. The first collage is made from receipts purchased, whereas the other collage comprises 'memory receipts', reflecting Van Dyk's memories of that particular moment in time. The archive offers an intimate insight into the artist's ways of thinking by tracking not only what she purchased, but where she has gone, and the amount of purchasing made on a daily basis. By developing this archive, Van Dyk creates a self-portrait expressing her personal history, identity and Aboriginal heritage.
