Janet Mitsuji
Master of Art
Metamorphosis I
Metamorphosis refers to a change in the state of a thing. Janet Mitsuji has chosen kelp as the vehicle through which to express this change. The artist has examined the ephemeral nature of life using a black circle to represent the threshold between life and death. She has attempted to reveal the traces and residual resonance of a living-being after it crosses this threshold. The concept of absence and presence is subtly explored in an interplay between, installation, drawing and shadows.
