Not at our Table
This collection of ceramic tableware highlights the silenced refugee voice through decades of propaganda. Asylum seekers are represented as cutout silhouettes to demonstrate successive government attempts to excise the person from discussions on policy. The table-scape symbolises humanity and community. It demonstrates that removal of the person from discussion does not erase the continued legacy of these measures. The process of excision renders the item useless while the scars and stains remain, as if upon our collective psyche.
