Grassware
'Grassware' is the synthesis of research into colonisation and the ongoing legacy brought about by Indigenous displacement. Kangaroo grass is used as a decolonial narrative to symbolise deliberate agricultural practice and an Indigenous economy at the time of settlement. Marks left by the grass whisper of its hidden history. This work is constructed from incompatible clays to express the uncomfortable coexistence of two knowledge systems brought together through colonisation.
