Alexandra Micallef is passionate about using her practice to spur interpersonal exchanges and promote wellbeing through collaborative learning and making. 'Social Ties' is a textiles installation which experiments with how macrame techniques can immerse people in a shared social experience. Micallef aims to disrupt the daily routine by creating ephemeral moments of intimacy and expression through the interplay of bodies and movement in space. The project fosters social bonds that rely on strategies of performance, viewer participation, and collaboration.
