Kintsugi Plate
Xanthe Murphy's current work is centred around questions of how to be a sustainable designer in a society fuelled by mass consumerism. She is driven by her current research into the potentials of ceramic repair as an alternative to the premature disposal of imperishable fired ware. Her work is inspired by the Japanese tradition of Kintsugi and its purposeful accentuation of an objects history, highlighting the veins of fracture to create new, more significant beauty.
