Vishmi Helaratne is a multidisciplinary artist of Sri Lankan heritage. Spanning drawing, performance, installation and public/community practice, her work focuses on exploring the idea of co-authorship as a means of forming new social, cultural and political relations. Making viewers active producers in her work, Helaratne focuses on this notion of the ‘social’ in art, introducing new methods that purely rely on community, conversation and participation. Documentation of social encounters is utilised to situate the artist in the nexus of these gestural acts.
