Through ‘Undefined Rhythms’, Samantha Dickens aims to undo the conventions of the book form to challenge perceptions around linear narratives. Rather than being a medium of storytelling, the work explores what it means to engage with the physicality of books. This is realised by focusing on non-linear narratives, the use of rhythmical stitch work and woven cloth, the layering text, and delicate mark making.
