Responding to representations of 'authentic' and 'traditional' cultures within contemporary society, D’Souza is informed by her own diasporic hybrid-Indian identity. The work is an intimate portrayal of what it means to occupy an inherently political 'bodily space' online. '~my motherland is a mouthful~' has shown at the Institute of Contemporary Art in London, SOIL Gallery in Seattle, and was the recipient of both the Kudos Emerging Artist Award (2016), and the Girl Genius Award (2016).
