‘This Language is Ours’ is a single-channel animation, expressing Meha Goenka’s continued research into post-colonial India and its multi-linguistic nature. Drawing on her native roots, Goenka has explored how the impact of globalisation, colonisation and Western influence has left its mark on native Indian languages. The animation focuses on the tactility, hybridity and ever-changing nature of Indian languages as well as their cultural significance. Goenka has conveyed the entry of English in British India and the marks left behind which are traced in globalised India today.
