Suppression and Release
Huy Lim Kha is a Cambodian-Chinese artist and post-migrant born in Australia. Her practice is characterised by washed down and subverted landscapes. Kha's acrylic paintings explore abstraction through a post-migratory lens, where Eastern and Western conventions of landscape meet at an intense median. She works with vertical paint pouring, where streaks of paint are pulled by time and gravity. Her artworks are aesthetically turbulent, capturing the ebb and flow of success and failures with her internal conflict with mental illness.
