‘Mirror Machine’ is a cross-media performance piece which aims to critique essentialist subjectivity. By using a video camera, a torch and coding software to create an interface, Byrne explores the self as an unfixed and relational construction. Byrne’s practice investigates the relationship between digital technologies and the self, through works spanning across performance, video and sound.
