As a designer, Matisse Strong is fascinated with experimental material research which have environmental and social impact. Discovering new bio-materials and long-term design thinking is important in an age where mass-consumerism, mining, production and pollution has detrimental disruption to our environment. ‘Forage’ invites the people of Sydney to envision positive, adaptive strategies against rising temperatures and dying native bee species. The project simultaneously promotes the nutritional value of surplus bee pollen for human-consumption along with the need for bee cultivation and conservation.
