As most of the world’s population live in dense, isolated environments, Lucy Rea Pickering’s process driven work intends to restore a connection to the earth. Through the process of hand harvesting clay and place-based making, Pickering created sculptural elements constituting knowledge of the land. This symbiotic relationship between body and land fostered a conscious connection to material exploration and cultivation.
