Imperfect potato product design
The wastage of edible and usable food is often linked to an underlying prejudice against imperfect fresh produce. Chenyu Li’s experimental design project contemplates the issue of imperfect foods and sustainability to raise awareness about food wastage. The set resin and silica gel the potatoes are stuck in represent consumers’ fixed mindsets concerning food aesthetics, exploring an alternative solution for utilising discarded potatoes. This project aims to challenge viewer’s expectations, encouraging new perspectives on the use of irregular foods.
