This work explores Indigenous women’s experiences with the assimilation policy, an Australian government policy designed to obliterate Indigenous bloodlines entirely through ‘breeding out’ the colour over generations. Countless Indigenous women lost their children under this act, some never returning. Each sheet of flesh coloured paint skins imitate the various skin colours of Indigenous Australia today, post-Stolen Generations. They are hung alongside each other, fairest to darkest in solidarity, and stand as evidence of the continued survival and resilience of Aboriginal people.
