SHAPESS - Spatial Division Exploration
'SHAPESS' questions the impact of design elements on the perception of spaciousness within existing small-scale student housing. Moulding perception through visual illusions, the project explores the use of materials and joinery as well as light to manipulate a 19 square metre apartment. The project questions how modular systems affect the visual and physical spaciousness of a room by integrating an interior system which incorporates reconfigurable and multi-functional elements that cater to the increased diversification of student needs. This 3D SketchUp model displays a potential spatial arrangement that uses walls for division of the existing space to divide the use of space to cater for a diverse range of activities.
